The Steltman Chair is Gerrit Rietveld's final design, created at the age of 75. With its clean lines and geometric planes, the chair forms an asymmetrical composition that reveals a new perspective from every angle. Its apparent simplicity makes it a quintessential example of Rietveld's design philosophy and an enduring international design classic.

Rietveld designed the chair for Steltman, a jeweler in the The Hague, as part of a new store interior. Two mirrored chairs were positioned by a glass counter where customers selected jewelry and wedding rings. In this setting, they acquired a symbolic meaning: two distinct forms that together create a unified whole.

Steltman is available in either a solid oak or fully upholstered version. Just as the original, it is available in a left arm or right arm orientation (arm side is determined when facing the chair).
